Shannon Matthew Vanya takes a new spin with, ‘Where You Are’

Leaving behind old alias’, Shannon Matthew Vanya takes his expertise in the industry and puts his energy into a more personal project with inaugural single, ‘Where You Are’. Releasing as a collaborative effort between A Label Called Success and Sony Music, marked is a new era of the New Zealand based producer’s journey. 

An easy flow beat and simple buzzing synth melody create an airy atmosphere leading into Shannon’s sweet pastel vocals. A piece of pop fusion, mixing in pastiche 70s funk with elements of contemporary pop, the track feels like a futuristic footfall. 

“Where You Are, is a song I initially wrote surrounded by ambient airport noise on stopovers on my way home. I hit the resignation that so much of my life is and is going to be spent entirely waiting for something. Feeling tired and low I just wanted to document a feeling of frustration and longing to be somewhere else” says Shannon on the track.
